Review: Heliocare 360º Fluid Cream
Finding the right SPF can be a struggle. Does it offer enough protection? Does it leave a white cast? Is it sticky? Work well under makeup? Like most skincare products, it’s usually a trial and error situation but unlike other skincare products, an SPF cream is something you don’t want to go a day without wearing. To learn more about SPF and why it’s the most important skincare product in your routine, read my previous blog post here. If you’re after an SPF which offers coverage, check out my review on La Roche Posay here. For this blog post, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Heliocare 360º Fluid Cream available online at Femi Beauty.
I have been using the Heliocare 360º Fluid Cream every morning for just under one month. Having worn it under makeup as well as on no makeup days, I have been able to assess how well this product works in my routine.
The technical facts
This is a broad spectrum SPF which offers high protection against UVA and UVB rays. (SPF50+ and PA++++) (Not sure what this means? Read my explanation here). It’s also free of alcohol, paraben and fragrance making it ideal for sensitive skin types too.
Consistency
The Heliocare fluid cream is great for normal/combination skin types as it is quite thin and has a runny consistency, giving it a lightweight feel. It has a slight tint to the cream however it doesn’t leave a white cast and blends out to be colourless and undetectable on the skin.
Application
I like to use this as the last step in my morning skincare routine and it doesn’t make my skin feel heavy or sticky like many other SPF creams. It has a dewy finish giving a natural, healthy glow to the skin which doesn’t look greasy. If I am layering makeup on top of this, I usually keep a 10min window before doing so, just to make sure this has been fully absorbed into my skin (I always like to do this, regardless of which skincare products I use). My makeup goes on just as well when I have this SPF on underneath and doesn’t make my base feel heavier or uncomfortable. The sunscreen isn’t fragranced however it does have a smell when you first apply it which some people may not like - I can assure you this smell doesn’t linger once blended out though!
Longevity
As this is SPF50, it lasts for the whole day. I’ve never re-applied this throughout the day however if you are outdoors for a lot of the day or a taking part in water sports etc it’s recommended to reapply as necessary. This product is also non-comedogenic which means you don’t need to worry about your pores becomes blocked from using this product too.
Ingredients
The Heliocare range use their patented Fernblock ingredient along with ferulic acid and caffeic acid which helps protect against UV rays from the sun as well as the light emitted from smartphone/laptop screens too - really important as screen time has increased significantly over the last few years! Some of the other ingredients include Roxisomes (known to slow down the ageing process) as well as Vitamin C and E which makes your skin look brighter and feel smoother. Unlike most SPFs, Heliocare not only protects you from UV rays but also neutralises and repairs sun damage - which is something I haven’t seen in any other SPF so far.
Value
This costs £31 for 50ml which is an average price for a good SPF but I think this is great value for money as it has high protection and because of the thin consistency, a little goes a long way!
